First solo trip! - Part 1
Recently, I had partaken in my first solo trip to Arizona and Utah. It was a wonderful, cleansing, and unforgettable experience. Many of my coworkers and friends asked me how I came to the idea of traveling alone. I decided to make this post if anyone else had the same question and if they were wanting to make a solo trip as well! I'll be posting parts of my journey everyday so its not one big annoying post.
I had always been fascinated by the concept of traveling alone and being to see the world without anyone else around me. The feeling of being able to go where yo want to go without anyone holding you back and following your own plan is something I longing for. I had been wanting to travel solo for quite a while, but never got the chance before. Being a college student and working a job might have something to do with that. So this past January, I made an effort to take the time out and make my dream a reality this time.
With much deliberation and conversation with friends and family, I booked my ticket for my destination. At first, I thought I made a mistake. My hands were shaking and my heart was beating out of my chest. I was thinking, "Maybe I shouldn't be doing this. I can just do this some other time when I more prepared." But I was ready. I had the week in question off from work, and had enough money saved up where I could travel comfortably. I eventually calmed down and realized that this was what I wanted to do. This is when the excitement kicked in. My trip was still too whole months away. To keep myself motivated through school and work, I kept a quote from Angelina Jolie in the back of my mind. "If you don't get out of the box you've been raised in, you won't understand how much bigger the world is."
