What do I need to know before visiting Machu Picchu?

Machu Picchu is packed with tourists. I mean I knew that there will be other tourists but I certainly didn't expect so many of them. If you are not going to hike to Machu Picchu you don't need hiking boots, a good trail shoe will do. Pack some food with you, the site is big and you will need the whole day to visit everything and there is no food inside the Machu Picchu site, only in front of the entry. If going to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Moutain prepare for hiking 'millions' of stairs, hah ok probably not a million but there are really a lot of stairs to get to the top. Hiking on top of Huayna Picchu and/or Moutain will take you some time, due to the altitude, you will walk a bit slower than normal.
