Why you should not get a guide to hike Yosemite
Not at all. The trail you'll walk on is well marked, you can't get lost... Also, you'll always meet people hiking it since it's one of the most popular hike in the US. Simply make sure you prepare properly (get a permit, pack food and water, wake up early and start the hike around 630am at the latest). Be careful on the hike, stay on the trail and take beautiful pictures.
What are the best things to do in Yosemite?
I love Yosemite, it's my favorite National Park. Here’s a short list of things you should do there: - hike the Mist Trail hike from Half Dome Village to top of Nevada Fall. Probably the best hike with the most spectacular views on the region. - Lower Yosemite Falls hike: it's quite an easy one from Yosemite Lodge. You'll be greeted with an amazing view once again. - Glacier Point: you should definitely drive there even if it's a bit far (2 hours for the roundtrip). Getting there for sunset is an experience you should live once. - The hike up Half Dome is a 15-mile round trip with 5000 feet of elevation gain. It's hard but highly rewarding. Start at sunrise, pack some food, a lot of water and go on.
The best time to visit Yosemite is...
If you're not afraid of the cold, I'd suggest you to visit Yosemite in winter. It's definitely less crowded and the wintery vibes suits the park well. Imagine having almost the entire valley to yourself. Most of the hikes are do-able + you'll be able to ski at Badger Pass. Needless to day that accomodations are very cheap since it's off-season.
Best day hikes in Yosemite National Park
Lucky you if you're going to Yosemite! :) My favorite day hikes there are: - the Mist Trail, - The Yosemite Falls Trail, - The Young Lake Trail, - Lyell Canyon.
My favorite National Park
I won't be very original here but I'd say Yosemite National Park. Hiking the Half Dome gives you a great lookout of the entire Park.
